Owners

Paul and Bern Squires are a little different to your traditional winery owners.

Paul and Bern Squires

It has not been a traditional path for the Squires Family towards ownership of their own vineyard and cellar door.

Paul has a long history in Senior Local Government management in Australia and after being dragged to London by Bern in the early 2000’s. He found himself working for the Mayor of London on the redevelopment of Trafalgar Square.

Paul has always been passionate about community engagement and community projects and upon their return to Australia was Chair of the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz for 5 years. His passion for wine has been fueled in the past 10 years resulting in a 5 year stint as Deputy Chair and Treasurer of Winemakers of Rutherglen for the past 5 years whilst becoming a Director and Partner at Buller Wines in Rutherglen.

Bern is a qualified nurse and has worked around the world in orthopedics and currently in medical waste management and infection control.

She is passionate about sustainability and drives the business focus on sustainable practices, waste management and developing products from her ever-growing garden.

Together with their sons Connor and Ryan they are building a lifestyle by the river with estate grown wines and a focus on local food.

Keep up to date with all the new developments at Squires Winery through the web site and on social media.

Together the family have sought to create a winery that people feel comfortable dropping into and enjoying life on the river.

Moving their winery and olive grove towards a sustainable model from vineyard to consumer is key and of course creating great affordable wines is all part of the overall experience of Squires Winery.
